Surviving Christmas & Gifts from Amber

My family and I survived our first Christmas without Amber with us.  Of course she was here with us in spirit.
My husband and I had decided to not get each other gifts for Christmas so we did not purchase a thing for each other.  Jennifer also agreed to not get us anything either.  However on Christmas Eve Jennifer came home bearing gifts.  I told her she broke the rules and quickly responded that she did not...the gifts were from Amber.  Jennifer had written a message in a sweet Christmas card how Amber told her what to buy and she would want us to have the gifts for Christmas. The gifts were exactly what Amber would have given me!  Jennifer knew Amber so well  : )

This is what Amber bought me...Jim Shore figurines with a sewing theme.  Amber always shopped for anything sewing related for me.  These are adorable with their needle and thread and the thimble hat.  Look at the cat sitting in her lap on the ball of yarn.  Too cute!

And of course I love my bunnies! These ceramic bunnies are reading their books.  Amber loved to read.  One bunny has his magnifying glass out reading like I sometimes have to do these days.  The other bunny has it's feet together.  So sweet!
Jennifer also included other things I adore.  I cried and cried when I realized what Jennifer had done for Amber.  Such sweet sister love!  Jennifer said Amber was with her as she did her Christmas shopping.

Jennifer, I know you read my blog and I love you!  Thank you for shopping for Amber this year!  How sweet and thoughtful!  You were always a good "Sissy".

God Bless,
Donna

You have two wonderful daughters! How sweet of Jennifer to do that for her sister who I'm sure would have done the same for her. I am always so touched with I visit your blog.

I love anything Jim Shore and those are so perfect for you with the sewing theme!

DEAR DONNA AND JENNIFER,
I AM JUST CRYING OVER JENNIFER'S SENSITIVITY TO THE PRECIOUS SPIRIT OF SWEET AMBER. JENNIFER IF I WAS THERE I WOULD HUG YOU SO TIGHT...YOU ARE INDEED A SPECIAL ANGEL AND YOUR MOTHER, JESUS, AND ME ADORE YOU.
I LOVE JIM SHORE....AFTER THEY HAD PUT AMY'S TRACH IN, IN AUGUST 2009, RICHARD MY DH, BOUGHT AMY AND ME JIM SHORE BIRTHDAY ANGELS AND DONNA I COLLECT BUNNIES. THOSE BUNNIES ARE THE SWEETEST BUNNIES I HAVE EVER SEEN....BOY AMBER HAD YUMMY TASTE, AND JENNIFER HAS A GOOD LISTENING EAR FOR WHAT TO BUY.
WE DID MAKE IT THROUGH OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS, DIDN'T WE. IT WAS DIFFICULT AND I HAD ONE SERIOUS PANIC ATTACK BUT MY PRECIOUS SON HELPED ME THROUGH IT AFTER 30 MINUTES. AND SO WE HEADED OFF TO MOTHER AND DADDY'S FOR CHRISTMAS....PRAYERFULLY THEY JUST LIVED ACROSS TOWN OR WE WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT BECAUSE OF THE SNOW.WE MADE IT TO THE CEMETRY ON SATURDAY. THE LITTLE ROAD TO AMY'S RESTING PLACE WAS CLOSED WITH 5 FOOT SNOW DRIFTS. WE TOOK THE NEXT LITTLE ROAD AND THEN WALKED....NOT A SINGLE THING WAS OUT OF PLACE.....I WAS SO VERY HAPPY......I TOOK HER, HER CHRISTMAS CARD, HER WINNIE THE POOH STOCKING WITH HER PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHRISTMAS TREE.....HER VERY FAVORITE AND A SUGAR COOKIE. I KNOW IT MADE HER HAPPY.....ONE OF HER SOLAR BUTTERFLIES HAD BEEN BROKEN OFF.....THEY HAD PUT THE TOMBSTONE IN ON THE THE PERSON RESTING BEHIND AMY AND I THINK SOMEONE STEPPED BACK TO MAYBE TAKE A PICTURE AND STEPPED ON IT...BUT IT WAS DARK BEFORE WE LEFT TO GO HOME AND THAT SOLAR BUTTERFLY JUST GLOWED IN THE BACKSEAT, ALL THE WAY HOME.
LOVE TO BOTH OF YOU SWEET GIRLS

Oh what a sweet and thoughtful gesture from Jennifer (and yes, I believe Amber too.) This certainly brought a tear to my eye, knowing that this has been a difficult holiday for many families who are missing loved ones. Sending hugs your way and wishing you a Happy New Year. May 2010 bring you much joy, peace and love.

Ahhhhh, what a sweet, kind, loving and thoughtful young woman Jennifer is! I'm sure her heart is still quite heavy, but she focused her thoughts on her Mom and Dad :) What a wonderful tribute to your parenting!!! You obviously raised two incredible girls :) I've never seen those particular Jim Shore figurines ... they are gorgeous and those bunnies are adorable :)

I am so glad that your first Christmas without your precious Amber is behind you. I know all those "firsts" are absolutely the worse ... close to unbearable actually; but thanks to Jennifer and by the Grace of God, you made it through :) Wishing you continued comfort from all those you love :)

Dearest Donna, what a delight and surprise to have you visit my blog, thank you! I know this Christmas had to be the hardest without your sweet Amber. Words cannot ever express how badly we feel when one of our blog friends loses a loved one. It is as though one of our physical family is gone! Sherry Smith lost her niece, Amy, this year as you know and we wept for her loss, too. But God knew what he was doing when he brought all of us together through cyberspace to love and comfort one another in a huge extended family. God bless you all and especially Jennifer for making such a special contribution in Amber's name. The gifts were the very best!♥ Kerrie and Bill
