Pretty and Pink

I have been so busy with wedding preparations and I have neglected by blog.  I opened up my blog to download pictures and it has changed!  I don't like change!  UGH!!

We dodged the tornadoes around here over the weekend, however about 30 miles away there is major damage.  I feel for the people who lost their homes but thankfully no one was killed in our state from the tornadoes.  The weatherman was on all day Saturday keeping everyone updated.  We just had lots of rain in our area.

I did manage to pick a few pink azalea blooms before the storms.  These are very large blooms and just gorgeous.  Azaleas are always so beautiful here in the South.  I love to drive through the neighborhoods with older homes and see the massive azaleas.  So pretty!

We planted these Knock-out roses last summer and they were small.  Now they have tripled in size and full of blooms.  They are drought and disease resistant ... my kind of bush!

I have never been successful with growing roses so I am thrilled with my Knock-out roses.  We planted these at the end of our driveway on the basement end of the house.  I wonder why they call them Knock-out roses ...

Yard Work ...

I have been working in the yard today planting flowers in baskets and pots! 

These pink azaleas are in our backyard. The plants are so full of little pink flowers and just gorgeous!  My white azaleas are about to bloom too!

I also noticed one of my peony bushes about to bloom for the very first time!

This is my snowball bush with small buds about to open up. The bush is full of white blooms and is beautiful! We are expecting rain with tornadoes on Saturday ... we need the rain but I hope my plants do not get destroyed just when they are blossoming out.

And finally here are my new working in the yard shoes!  These are the most comfortable pair of slip on "tennies".  I love the color .... PURPLE with hearts on the side.  Misha has a pair and I just had to know where she got hers.   I went the next day and bought me some at WalMart for $12!!  Gotta love them!

We did plant 36 tomato plants, several types of peppers and we will plant squash, okra and cucumbers in our vegetable garden.  I love to be able to go out in the summer and pick fresh veggies from our own garden.

In my hanging baskets I have planted sweet potato vines, marigolds, begonias, impatiens, dusty miller and creeping jenny.  It was too late to take pictures of all my work ... I will try to  post pictures tomorrow!  I have had so many things going on with the wedding, sewing, working in the house and yard ... but it does keep my mind busy. 

I am going to try to visit blogs this weekend since the weatherman is predicting severe weather for Saturday ... I just hope the internet is working!

Busy as a Bee ...

I have been so busy with everything ... sometimes there is not enough hours in the day.  I am trying to put my dining room back together today after my husband finished painting.  I put this antique planter of Gerber daisies in my bay window ... it just looked empty until I get everything put back where it belongs.  I love Gerber dasies  ... I love all flowers :) 

We had just hung some plates last night above the french doors that go to the screen porch when about five minutes later I heard a crash!  I knew one of my Bordallo bunny plates had fallen  ... I couldn't go look!  My sweet husband felt bad that one had fallen. They had been hanging in the same place we had taken them down from when he painted.  I told him things like dishes do not matter anymore after you lose a child.  It's just a plate ... it can be replaced.

Jennifer has updated her blog with her other bridal shower ... they received so many wonderful things!  I have some pictures I will post too when I have more time.  In the meantime if you have a second go look at her blog and see the cute cake with the "W".

Bridal Shower ...

I feel like I have partied all weekend!  Jennifer had her first bridal shower Saturday at my sister's house.  My sister Kathy had her beautiful house all decorated for my sweet daughter.  When Jennifer arrived I told her she matched the front doors :)

Here we are together.  I look so pale next to her ... got to get me some sun!  You know I look so big next to her!  She is like a size 0!  Nothing to her ... I try to fatten her up ... doesn't work!

We are all gathering around the table like we do here in the South for any occasion!  Lots of good food as always :)

I love this picture ... we had Jennifer practice cutting the cake!  And no ... she did not have to serve the cake :)

The couple received so many wonderful things this weekend.

These were so yummy!  I wish I had one right now.

She is becoming her mother as they say!  She would never have admitted that several years ago!

  She registered for Lenox Butler's Pantry for her everyday dishes. 

I began my collection last year and once she saw the dishes she loved them too.  Her china pattern is Lenox Opal Innocence.  I will post a picture of it later.

Jennifer and Jeremy also had another shower in his hometown on Sunday ... I will share those pictures in the next post.  I have so many pictures to go through and decide which ones to post. 

I am sure Jennifer will post more pics on her blog later in the week when she has a few minutes! 

I have decided that once you have been married at least 25 years you need to have another shower to at least get new towels. LOL  I sure could use some new ones!

I have been so busy and I am behind on visiting other blogs. 

 I hope to visit all of you this week.

Please pray for me!  I had a very emotional week last week ... my husband had a medical test and everything is great!  Thank the Lord!  One of my best friends was diagnosed with breast cancer and I spent another day with her for pre-op tests and doctor visits.  She had surgery yesterday and is doing great!  Thank goodness she caught it early!

 And then driving home by myself on Sunday I was listening to my CD by Mercy Me  ... I just became so emotional!  We played a couple of songs at Amber's funeral and I listened to them while driving and I thought I was going to have to get my husband come and pick me up.  I said a prayer and I made it home fine with mascara running all down my face!  Now that was a sight! LOL  I just miss my Amber so much!   Everyone that knew and loved her misses her along with us :)  She was watching us from above laughing at Jennifer with new cookware!

Hearts for Jack

Kim at Daisy Cottage has posted the hearts for Jack that you can read about on her blog. Such a sweet story!

When I read the story I knew I had to make a heart for Jack in memory of Natasha.  This is the heart I made for Jack and I made Kim one for Daisy Cottage for hosting and being such an inspiration to Natasha and to me as well.  I also made me one for Amber to hang in my sewing room.

I attached a small note letting Jack know that my daughter, Amber passed away 7 months ago and I know his pain.  Our hearts will never be the same.

If you get the chance go by and visit Daisy Cottage and see the other hearts as well.  Blogging is such a wonderful thing!

I have had so many things going on this past week I will have to catch up with you all later.  I have missed reading everyone's blog entries this week. 

Two wedding showers are this weekend and I will have pics to post!

Spring Flowers & I Won a Giveaway!

I filled this little rooster pitcher with spring daffodils and a few pieces from our yoshino cherry tree. I added forsythia to the arrangement but forgot to take another picture! Look at those cute bunny salt and pepper shakers! 

 Everything  has turned so pretty and green in the last few days here.  I love Spring!

One of my tulips has decided to bloom ... purple.  Amber's favorite color and the main color Jennifer is using in her wedding.  This wedding has kept me busy!

My pansies are so pretty this year.  I love the bright yellow with the purple centers.

Here is a picture of one of our yoshino cherry trees.  It is a large tree and is beautiful this year.  After it rained the other day the ground looked as if it had snowed with all the falling blooms.

And finally I won a giveaway in a Bunny Hop that Barb of http://corgitoquiltby.blogspot.com/ was participating in.  This is the cutest bunny pattern with the Easter eggs.  See the adorable fabric that was included!  The little bunnies and the other fabrics look like little Easter eggs ... so cute!  Please go by and visit Barb and her blog.

Well that's all I have for the moment.  We are painting my dining room and hopefully it will be finished in a few days.  We have been so busy the past couple of weeks ... I am going to try to visit other blogs to see what is going on in the blogging world.

Happy Easter!

We have had gorgeous weather yesterday and this afternooon.

Peter Rabbit is adorable.  He looks like he wants to eat the tulips :)

We will be meeting Jennifer for Easter services tomorrow evening after she finishes work.
