Wedding Quilt

I just wanted to show you a quick glance at the wedding quilt I made for Jennifer and Jeremy.  Jennifer did not want a traditional double wedding ring quilt so I had this pattern with the cross "fussy cut" and decided to make it for them. 

This is the first quilt I made since Amber went to Heaven and I spent many hours last fall and winter crying while I sat at the sewing machine.  It is not perfect by any means but Jennifer loves it.  She had taken it to her house right after the shower and I hadn't even snipped off all of the threads!

I brought it back to my house to embroider a label with their names and the date of the wedding, etc.  I finished sewing on the binding the night before the shower ... about 1 a.m. in the morning.  I fell asleep with the needle and thread in my hand :)  I know the quilt will be cherished for many years to come.  Jennifer says she cuddled under it the few nights she had it with her and wants it back now!

Lingerie Shower

Jennifer's bridesmaids had a lingerie shower for her this weekend.    We had a wonderful and fun time.  We first had dinner at Jennifer's favorite restaurant at the Summit in Birmingham.

  The shower was held at two of the bridesmaid's home (they are twins).  The girls were wonderful hosts and had their home beautifully decorated.  I will share just a few of the pics.  Let me just say that I will not show some of the "unmentionables"!!  She did receive adorable lingerie!

It was a dessert party and it was so good!

These bra and panty cookies were delish ... a wonderul almond flavoring.  They were in the colors of the wedding.

And this cake ... strawberry with cream cheese icing!  I gained 10 pounds just looking at it!

I don't remember what these were called but they were so yummy!  I wish I had a bite right now!  You know I love my chocolate!  Chocolate coverd strawberries, brownies and a chocolate chip cream cheese ball was also served.

The bridemaids thought of every little detail!  Even the cups had "W"s on them ... so cute!

The future Mrs. Willis.  She is so sassy looking!  The girls ordered this sash for her.  She plans on wearing it to the wedding rehearsal.

Let's just say there was no shortage of Victoria Secret packages!

And finally ... I made this robe for her!  After all she has to have something to cover her up! 

I have a busy week ahead.  There are several items I still have to make for the wedding ... I am waiting on the size of sashes for the wreaths on the doors of the church and some tablecloth overlays for the reception ... among other things!

Wedding Countdown

It's hard to believe that in just a little over 3 weeks my baby girl will be getting married! 

The countdown is on! 

This is our cake topper when we were married 33 years ago this September. 

I think it's what we would call vintage now!!

I have it on display under my cloche until the wedding.

It's turned a little yellow over the years!  Oh the memories my husband and I have shared over the nearly 33 years we have been married ... the happy and the sad. 

I wish Jennifer and Jeremy many years of wedded bliss!

Now I have gotta get busy.

More Bridal Shower Pics

I am posting more pictures of Jennifer's Bridal Shower that was held last Saturday.

The bride and groom chose Butler's Pantry and Butler's Pantry Gourmet china for their everyday dishes.  I decided I would purchase the soup tureen that goes with the collection and fill it with green apples.  Jennifer is having green apples in her vases filled with flowers at the reception.    I love this soup tureen myself and decided it would be perfect to use as the centerpiece and something they would have forever.

This was the best cake!  I ordered it to look like the invitation that had pastel dots and it was delicious!

Are these shoes not adorable?  I found them at Hobby Lobby last year.  They reminded me so much of Jennifer!

 The lavender dish to the right of  the cake was filled with chocolates that were in the shapes of engagement rings and wedding bells.

The shoes matched the pink hydrangeas that was used for the floral arrangements.  I absolutely love hydrangeas.

Bridal Shower

Jennifer's Bridal Shower here at my house on Saturday was fun.  The bride and groom received so many wonderful gifts from family and friends.  I will show just a few pictures now and share more the next post.

Here is the bride-to-be sitting without her shoes before the guests began arriving.

I saw the green table last fall at a local antique shop. I kept thinking about it and a couple of months ago I finally purchased it! Love it!  Jennifer is using green apples in vases at the reception so I moved the table I had near the front door and put this cute green table for guests to sign in.  (This table does not match anything in my house except my sewing room)

Mother's Day Changed Forever ...

Amber and Jennifer last year ...  happy times :)

This is my first Mother's Day without Amber.  It has been a difficult day without her here with us.  She brought such joy to us in her nearly thirty years on this earth.  It's just not the same without her.  My life changed forever for me and my little family last July 24 ... the night Amber went to Heaven so unexpectedly.

My husband, Jennifer and I had a quiet day together.

Amber will always be in our hearts forever ....

Hold your children a little tighter tonight and never forget to say "I Love You".

Nashville Flood

I am still here! 

I have been so busy with Jennifer's wedding ... all the last minute details.  We are having a bridal shower here at my house on Saturday so I have been busy with attempting to clean my house!

I am saddened by the Nashville floods.  We have had so many memories of Nashville and the Opryland Hotel over the years.  It was one of  Amber and Jennifer's favorite places to visit over the years.  It is so hard to believe that it is flooded as I have seen on television and the internet.  Over the years we have stayed there when it was all decked out for Christmas and when the quilt show was held there in August for years we stayed there.  I can still see my husband pushing Amber around in her wheelchair along all the lush greenery and all the pictures we have taken there.  Every time we would stay there Jennifer would want her picture taken on one of the staircases in the same place each time.  So many memories!

It is so hard to believe the pictures I have seen and thinking about all the water in the hotel.

All the walkways we have strolled through now under water.

And the Grand Ole Opry ... so many memories there too.  We are country music fans and have been to the Opry so many times.  I have pictures of us standing on the stage at the Opry (I looked bad in them ... that's why I didn't post them!)

My heart feels so sad for all the people of Nashville and the surrounding areas.  It is such a beautiful area with wonderful people.  I know it will take months to get back to normal.  Please remember these people in your prayers tonight.
