Sewing and a Giveaway I Won!

I was busy outside last week enjoying the beautiful weather and working  in the yard.  Today we are expecting rain and storms.  I forget that winter is not over yet!  We will have more cold weather.  I can't believe this is the last day of February!
I did do some sewing on some blocks of the month I am working on this year.  This one is from Aunt Grace - Circle of Friends.  I love the vintage look of the fabrics.
This pastel one is from my local quilt shop's BOM.  I love the pinks, greens and paisley fabric.

I have another block of the month I am hand appliqueing and working on too.  I will show it later.  Those hand projects take more time for me!

I also won a giveaway from Jen over at Jen's Fun Things.
She had this package wrapped so cute I didn't want to open it.  Love the paper and card!

Inside were these heart placemats!  They are even quilted with hearts.
The backing fabric is as cute as the front with the striped fabric.
I love anything hearts and these are the cutest!
Thank you Jen for the giveaway!

Well gotta go ... I need to make a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up some items I need before the storm and rain comes through this afternoon.
Have a good day!

A Surprise from Mrs. Claus!

Right after Christmas I received a package from "Mrs. Claus".  I was so excited when I opened the package and saw all this fabric!  There are yards and yards! This has always been one of my favorite lines of fabric from Sandy Gervais called "Objects of Desire".

The high heeled shoes are so me except it gets harder and harder everyday to walk in high heels :)  I seem to be so clumsy and my feet are so accustomed to walking in flats in the winter.

I think Mrs. Claus was pretty good to me!  There is a Schnibbles quilt I want to make soon with the fabric.

I was sick this weekend but now I am feeling better with antibiotics in me.  I hope to get around to visiting my blogging buddies.
It has been beautiful weather here ... in the 70's and I love it!

Thanks for visiting and God Bless!

Dressed Up Picture Frame

I bought some plain picture frames at Hobby Lobby and wanted to "dress" them up.
Jennifer bought one something like this last fall for her bedroom.
I decided to try to make my own version.
Actually I gave the frame to Jennifer for Valentine's Day with a picture of the two of us on her wedding day last June.
Do you think we look like mother and daughter?  We hear this all the time ... "you look so much alike."  We are like "two peas in a pod" :)

It took me forever but I eventually found some ribbon like I wanted and an antique pin that looks as close as I could find to a cross.  She wanted a cross.  This pin has lots of bling!  I think the picture deserves some bling since it was her wedding day!

Here is the antique pin I found in an antique store.  I just pinned it on the bows I made for the frame.  If she wants to change it ...if I find a cross all I have to do is un-pin it and replace it!

Here is what I began with ... just a simple off white picture frame.

I have several I want to make using some of my grandmother's old clip-on earrings that are very old.  When I get them made I will post them.
It is a quick project once I decide what ribbon and the piece of jewelry I want to use.

We had a beautiful day with a high near 70!  I worked outside for a while pruning my roses ... getting ready for Spring!

Thank you for visiting and God Bless!

Flea Market Gardens

I was looking for Spring inspiration for my backyard and I found this wonderful magazine ... Flea Market Gardens.
I love all the ideas for container gardening.  Oh the blooming flowers!
A lidded wicker basket that is full of blooming plants.  I happen to have a basket similar to this that was being thrown away by a neighbor.   I will be planting flowers in it this spring!

This old desk is put to good use with flowers in the drawers!  I love the pink color of the desk.

This is an old chest with the drawers filled with petunias and impatiens.  So cute!

I can't wait for Spring and getting out and digging in the dirt and planting flowers!

We had snow again this week so I am definitey ready for some warmer weather!  It will be in the 60's here next week and I can't wait!

Thanks for visiting and God Bless!

Ball Jars, Buttons and Spools

Thank you all for the birthday wishes on my last post.  I had a great day.
Birthday's sure do come around fast when you are getting older :)

Have you ever bought something, put it up or left it in a bag and forgot you bought it?  Well I did ... and it's not the first time :)
Last summer we had gone to my sister's lakehouse and on the way there is an antique mall ... full of stuff!  She and I later went there to look and I found these Ball jars for $2 and $3.  I know the antique stores around here ask at least $10 a piece.
I love the green glass (you can't really tell in the pic).  I filled one up with some of my grandmother's old wooden spools. I put old buttons I had from an estate sale in the other jar.  I have so many buttons that are still on the cards they came on.  I don't know whether to take them off or leave them on the cards.
I put the jars on a table in my sewing room until I rearrange my sewing goods.   I tied some red gingham around the lids to give them some color.  I like color in my sewing room ... makes me happy!

Can you believe we are expecting snow again this week!  The forecast is for snow on Wednesday night into Thursday ... ugh!
I really don't know how you gals in the north stand it!

Oh well gotta go sew and find something on television to watch.

Thanks for visiting!

I am linking up to Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays.

Teapot Lamp

Last week my husband and I went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  As soon as I walked in the door I knew I wanted this lamp!
As we were eating my husband asked me if I wanted it for my birthday (it's Friday) and I said YES!

I put it in front of the cabinet to take a pic.  It has a red shade with a little yellow teapot for the finial.

I collect teapots and these are the colors I have in my kitchen.

I am deciding on a small table to put in my kitchen to put this cutie on!
It just makes me happy when I look at it :)
