More Tiny Town Quilt Blocks

In between trying to do lots of yard work during the day at night I have been working on my Tiny Town quilt blocks.  I posted about them a couple of times before.

It is taking forever to cut out each little piece but I love doing it :)

I just took a few quick pics of several of the blocks together.

I love the bright colors for all the buildings.  The school house with playground is one of my favs.  The pin in the birdhouse block has the side borders pinned to it so I don't lose it.  So many pieces.

Even a red truck pulling away from the gas pump.  Wonder how much the gas cost? LOL

Crooked pic!  The post office is bright and cheery too!

I need to finish one more block and I am ready for the machine applique.  I will applique each block and then sew them together.  So much easier to work on one block at a time.

Now I have to get back to cleaning house.  I had rather sit in my sewing room and sew but that's not going to happen today :(

Spring Wreath

I needed a new Spring wreath for my front door.  I gathered what I had around the house and went to work.  I had purchased the Welcome sign at HL weeks ago. on sale  The purple mesh I bought at a gift shop after Christmas that was going out of business ... it was super cheap.  Gotta love a bargain!

I knew I wanted colored butterflies and for Easter I wanted eggs.  I got the eggs at Dollar Tree and the butterflies at HL.  I love HL!  I will take the eggs out after Easter and I have a bird's nest I will add or maybe two.

I love the colored butterflies and they just say Spring!  All the flowers I had leftover from other projects or I took old wreaths apart.  My porch is covered so my silk flowers last in the weather.

I had fun putting the wreath together and I hope my guests will love it too!

Easter Decorating

I brought a few more of my Easter decorations out of storage.  I put together a basket full of Easter eggs and bunnies for the coffee table.  I bought the eggs and colored flowers at Dollar Tree.  The bunnies came from a gift shop in Birmingham last year.  

Had to show the cute little pink bunny on the other side of the arrangement!

I bought this little cutie last year at the same shop in B'ham and stuck it in a planter near the mantle.  That's what you call easy decorating.  Don't you love those long ears!

The only thing I bought new this year is the sweet little chick at Cracker Barrel.  The bunny was from Cracker Barrel last year.  I already had the basket and hydrangeas.  Just using what I have this year.  I don't need to buy any more Easter pretties!

Isn't the little chick the cutest!  She goes perfectly with the bunny.

Now I need to put a little Easter decor on the dining room table.  I will post it when I get it decorated.

Kitchen Backsplash

My husband and I have been adding a tile backsplash to our kitchen.  I haven't finished decorating ... but here's a quick peek.  We have under counter lighting so there is a glare.  It's hard to take pics without the lights on.

We had tile left over from two tiled bathrooms from three years ago.  The tile had been in our basement waiting to be used.  We finally got busy a few days ago and went to work.  Well I mostly watched!

Today I am grouping my Bordallo bunny dishes together on the countertop trying to put everything back together.

My little bunny salt and pepper shakers wanted their picture taken! 

I will share the before and after when I have time to look for pics.  The kitchen is much brighter with a fresh new look.  The backsplash was a dark red.

Now I am headed back to the kitchen to finish decorating!

More Tables ... Part III

More tables from my night out with friends.  I posted about the other tables here and here.  As I said before this was such a fun event looking at all the gorgeous tables.

Easter table with cabbage leaf placemats and green Bordallo lettuce dishes.  A vase of tulips  was elevated on a piece of green satin.   So pretty and perfect for Easter!

The centerpiece was composed of a Happy Easter sign, scroll work eggs, mercury glass candlesticks and a darling lamb.  The little bird nest's on top of the Easter boxes I think were made of chocolate!

 

I loved the Easter egg placemats that were also used with the purple tablecloth.

I actually own a set of these dishes.  Faux artichokes were in flower pots for the placecards.  Artichokes and other veggies were used in the centerpiece..  The tablecloths were layered.  The top one with veggies looked like it might have been vintage.  This reminded me of summer!

This table was adorable!  A brightly colored umbrella and galoshes fitted the saying "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.  It's about learning to dance in the rain."  

This pic is the other side of the centerpiece with the polka dot galoshes.  Bright gerber daisies and greenery flowed from the galoshes and umbrella.   This just says Spring!

These ladies were so creative with their tables!

Spring Cloches

Everyone is decorating for Spring in the blogging world and I love seeing all the decor.  I have a few of my cloches decorated for Spring. 

I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her Spring Cloche party.  Hop on over to her blog and see all the lovely Spring cloches.

This table is at our front door and I always have it decorated for the season.

I love unpacking my Spring fairy and egg topiaries every year.

Small cloches with miniature flower pots filled with pink flowers.  I love the Bordallo plates with carrots. 

My pics are dark ... it has been cloudy with rain here today :(

More Fun With Friends

I have more table settings to share from my Ladies Tea with friends.  I posted a few tables in this post.  

I never would have thought of using an artist's canvas as a center piece or paint brushes in a paint bucket!

The "dropcloth" was splattered with all the bright colors.

Love the deep purple tablecloth and bright green plates.

This table just screams Spring!  Very elegant center piece with white roses and greenery with hydrangeas.  I really like the idea of using a ribbon tied for a napkin ring ... so simple.

Lace placemats were used instead of chargers.

This is the same table showing the table with the purple ribbon and flowers on the chair backs.

"Sweet" Bible verses were used in this sweet themed table.  A polka dot table runner and lace was used over the red table topper which was layered over the white tablecloth.  (Long sentence .. I know!)  

So much to look at!

Brightly colored ribbon on the chairs.  This just makes me happy to look at it :)  Everything coordinated so well.

The centerpiece was glass apothecary jars filled with all kinds of sweet treats. Matching ribbons were tied around the jars.  I saw a lady leaving with one of the jars.  She said the hostess of this table gave the jars away as gifts.  How sweet is that!

I really enjoyed this event .. can you tell? LOL  I have more tables to show you in a couple more posts.

This was so much fun!  I am glad my friend Becky invited me.  I hope I get to attend next year.

Fun Time With Friends

One of my best friends asked if I would like to go to a ladies tea at a local church Saturday night.  Of course I said yes!  She had told me that each table was set with dishes.  She knew I would love it ... she knows how I love dishes :)  When I walked into the huge room and saw all the tables I was thrilled!  Thank goodness I had my camera!  Here are just a few of the nearly forty tables!

This was the first table I saw as I walked in the door.  Gorgeous!  I adored this pink and burgundy table.  Serving pieces were used around the centerpiece.  So pretty ...

The chairs were decorated as well at each table. 

The lady who set this table said the dishes came from Cracker Barrel several years ago.  

Loved the brown tablecloth, white dishes and green on this table.  

The forsythia centerpiece on this table was so Springy.  The lights were dimmed while we ate so each table had candlelight.  The forsythia had fiber optics in the center.

Elegant table with white china.  Picture frames were used for place cards.  Each lady was given a small gift chosen by the hostess of her table.

We actually had dinner instead of tea.  All the tables had salad and dessert set at each place setting before we arrived.

Pretty Easter table with tulip napkins and pink candles.  Notice the chairs with elegant chair ties.

Jesus is the Real Thing was the theme for this table.  Coca Cola  dishes were used with red and black.   Very creative.

After we had a delicious meal we had a wonderful Christian speaker.  It was a lovely evening!

I have so many other tablescapes to share.  As I said there were about forty tables set.  There were so many themes used for the tables.  It will take me several posts to share them all.  I was in "dish heaven" to say the least!

It is always wonderful to spend time with two of my best friends.

Boston Commons Quilt Top

Another quilt top finished!  I am really trying hard this year to finish several projects that I have been working on for way too long!  This Boston Commons quilt top is ready to be quilted and I am so glad!! 

This is the center of the quilt top.  I tried really hard to not sew two blocks together that are alike.

The fabrics I used were fat quarters I had in my stash.  They are all bright and cheery.  I wanted it to be a "happy" quilt!  It has a retro look which I love!

This is not a great pic ... you can see where I have had it folded.  It is a queen size quilt and it was hard to get a pic of the entire quilt. 

I want it quilted with lots of feathers to fill in the off white spaces and make a scrappy binding.

I tried to get a picture of the entire quilt but it's just not possible.  I needed two people to hold the quilt top!  My hubbies arms are just not long enough :)

I am really happy to have this quilt top finished and ready to be quilted.

We are expecting bad weather with possible tornadoes in our area today.  We really have to stay tuned in to weather radios, television or radios to keep informed for weather updates.  We have had too many close calls in our area in the past year.
