Fall Decor at the Front Door

 

I love to decorate the table at the front door for the seasons.  I kept the ironstone pitcher I used for the summer table and changed it to sunflowers.  

The long table is to the right of our front door and I have had it for about thirty years.  It has many scratches but they just give it character :)

A vintage doily, leaves, an acorn candle and a creamer filled with flowers was simple to put together around the pitcher.

On one end I placed a pumpkin on a doily covered pedestal and added pumpkins around it.

On the other side I used my Jim Shore pieces.  Mr. Scarecrow is adorable with his basket of crows in front of a sunflower plate.

And a sweet little pumpkin tucked in the leaves.

I am decorating the kitchen with sunflowers and pumpkins too.  I will share it with you later this week.  I seem to have more projects going on than I can count!

Colors of Fall

Fall is nearly here and I love it! The cooler temps are wonderful. 

I hopped on Amber's Polaris yesterday and rode to the back of our pasture and this sea of yellow greeted me.  Sometimes I just need to get out and enjoy nature around me.  I never know what I might see roaming the pasture.  I am a country girl at heart.  I don't know if I could ever live in a big city.

 

The wild black-eyed Susan's are in full bloom and so pretty.

 

As I leaned down to take a picture the butterfly caught my eye.  I was determined to get a picture with his wings open! 

 

 He finally opened his wings and I captured it after many tries!  He is the color of Fall also with orange and rust colors..  Don't know why I am calling it a "he" but it looks masculine.  If it was purple or yellow I would call it a "she" :)  Silly I know! 

 

I have been busy decorating the house for Fall and I am planning to buy pumpkins this weekend to put in the yard.  Saturday is the first day of Fall!  Where did the year go?  Time seems to fly by too quickly when you get older.

 

I have been doing a little stitching this week. 

I have been working on a wallhanging.  I love the primitive look of the wagon full of pumpkins.  I don't have the wire hanger for it yet.  It has been ordered.  I will show it again when I get it hung.  It was fun to make with the wonky wheels. 

Perfection is not required with this pattern.  Perfect for me!

Doughbowl Full of Pumpkins

I am bringing out the pumpkins for Fall.  I love this time of year with all the colors of the season.  The oranges, yellows and browns are gorgeous this time of year.  And it is much cooler here today!

I normally use a large platter for my Fall arrangement on the coffee table.  This year since I have a new little "furbaby" that loves to get into everything I decided to fill my grandmother's dough bowl.  Hopefully they will stay in the bowl :)

I remember my grandmother using the large oval wooden bowl when I was just a little girl.  Sweet memories.  It was my mother's mom who used the bowl.  I love the aged look of it.

I love it filled with the pumpkins and sunflowers sitting on an vintage doily on the table.

Now I am working on the mantle and my table at the front door.  I normally have my house decorated by now.   I am way behind this year!

It actually feels like Fall here today and I love it!  Less humidity makes it so much nicer.

Sunflowers in the Sunroom

The sunroom is finished with the construction and look what I hung first ...

yes a sunflower!  I bought it in Florida a few weeks ago.  It is a large metal sunflower that just begged me to buy it :)  It is actually a garden stake or for me it was perfect to hang between the windows.  I just unscrewed the stake and hung it.

I have been gathering some of my sunflower decor to decorate the room.  On the left is a birdhouse in the shape of a sunflower I found a few months ago at Homegoods.  I will hang it from the ceiling in a corner.  The sign was originally on the porch and says "Friends Make Life Bearable".  So true!  My friends are the best :)  It has sunflowers painted between the letters.  

This little table I love.  I purchased it three years ago.  I fell in love with it when I first saw it in an antique store window.  I kept my eye on it for months and when it was marked down I bought it.

I love the green color.  It didn't go with anything in my house except my sewing room.  It has been in there since I purchased it.  I had always hoped to have a sunroom to put it in and now it has the perfect home.

It has a little drawer on the front.  Perfect for storing little items.

I love the distressed look for the finish.

The room is coming together.  Some things I thought I would use I have decided not to use.  Other things I am adding.   I need to paint a few things like chairs and another table.  They will be yellow. This is a sunny room with happy colors!

Speaking of friends ... Deborah of Simply Miss Luella made me this adorable pincushion.  She knows why I love the color purple :)  She is a very talented lady who has a lovely blog.

And I can't end this post without remembering the day eleven years ago when our country was attacked.  I remember exactly where I was at and will never forget. My thoughts and prayers are with the people who lost loved ones.  God Bless America!

Sunroom Update and Thank You

Thank you for the lovely comments and emails on Amber's birthday.  I treasure your friendships.  I am slowly responding to every comment and email.

Two wonderful friends gave us flowers to remember the day. 

Gorgeous sunflowers with purple flowers mixed in the bouquet.

Another beautiful bouquet filled with roses, hydrangeas, lilies, etc. and of course purple.

Lovely! 

 Birthdays and holidays are the most difficult days.  Precious friends make it easier.

We have been busy on the sunroom.  Keeping our minds occupied for sure.

The tile is laid ... thank goodness!  We worked all day on Saturday watching the rain through the windows.  I am loving this room already. 

Today we are adding the trim around the windows. 

Laying the tile was like making a quilt top.  My job was to keep the pattern going the right direction :) 

 

Oops ... hear my husband calling me.  Oh well gotta go and get busy!
