I have been so busy sewing for my little granddaughter. I haven't made little dresses in years. In fact I've sewn very few garments in the last few years. I always made my girls clothes when they were growing up.
I began heirloom sewing classes a few weeks ago and love it! I had always loved heirloom dresses and had collected heirloom sewing magazines but wasn't completely sure about the correct techniques. I'm so glad I took the classes. Using the correct thread and needles makes a huge difference.
This little pink dress is my first attempt. It's a simple little dress and it only took me a few hours to make. I'm making a little slip now to wear under it. It's a newborn size and so dainty :) Maggie Kate will look adorable in it!
I knew how to smock and had kept my smocking pleater all these years when I sewed for my girls. I was afraid I had forgotten how to smock but once I picked up the needle it all came back to me. I chose the pink thread for the white dress to go with the little pink crocheted shoes I gave Jennifer earlier this year. This dress is a newborn size too.
Smocking takes time but it's so relaxing. It has taken away from my blogging but so worth it.
I'm not sure which one Maggie Kate will wear home from the hospital but I know she will be beautiful in both of them!
I've had several emails asking about Jennifer and Maggie Kate and they are doing well. She is due in just a few short weeks.
Now I'm off to sew!
